school

It's just a group of buildings

witness silence four times a year

where empty floors contracting

cracks no ear shall hear

Then exuberance of children

infusing every pore

as they return from holidays

the school's alive once more

Some have been reigned in too far

some may jump the fence

but most will trott and walk a bit

let the canter now commence

Amongst there are the haughty,

the willing and the slow

the meek the quick the angry

and the ones who already know

Instruction keeps them on their toes

but such qualities exude

perhaps by something spiritual

that ambience and that mood

See steam and smoke and celebrate

for beneath are the shiny rails

that a teacher greased;

and now released, the student never fails
