feet up on the seat

In the sixties on the train there's no way I'd retreat

if a lad just down the way from me arrogantly placed his feet

contrary to what was accepted squarely on the carriage seat

but now I find that things have changed so I'm considerably more discreet

if a lad just down the way from me has his feet up on the seat

no guarantee that those on board would condone what I'd have said

no confidence the law would see it my way from what I've read

manners transposed from our day to a kick in the balls and a punch in the head
