careless cracks in lips so free

could waste a friend like me

yet you profess to mind me well

me, plato in whose eyes you, sage socrates dwell

where raphael once dreamt in silent clouds as apprentice bristled bold

to stage an unlikely farce as the curtains now unfold

where in listening for the silent word somewhere else it's heard

that the grass is always grassier and the poetry's absurd

I love you Jim for all you are and what you've helped me see

yet father, brother, mentor, friend, we sometimes disagree
