Respectable at Last

I want to make the salient point

to the point and short

that while I've not done the proper thing

it's a pity to be caught

Striving hard to earn repute

I got two dirty hands

one hand has a cake of soap

caused by reprimands

the other's got the contraband

searching for its cache

I need to stash it 'fore I wash

and demonstrate panache

I'll look at you and just you will know

whence came our fortunes vast

as we are riding down the street

respectable at last
