Tortoise 1982

Emerging from a problem time getting my mind in hand

the quarterbred collie walked me

along the Kunyung sand

a tortoise was spotted attempting to climb

a slippery slidey hill

as he would try and try again, the terrain would test his will

He sought to pause and cool a bit

He needed none's permission

But then no reason rushed right in

to interrupt his mission

The sand was hot,

the grass looked cool,

the situation hell

He would counteract indifference

or bake inside his shell
